What is Sports Massage?

Sports Massage is the term applied to the discipline of using massage for the specific benefit of all sports and exercise participants. It covers the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the soft tissues of the body eg. muscles, ligaments and tendons.

Sports massage should be tailored to each individual's needs to positively enhance one's ability to perform.

Why is Sports Massage Used?

Massage improves circulation by increasing the blood flow to the muscles, It removes toxins form the body, and can reduce swelling via increased lymphatic draining. Massage breaks down muscle tension and adhesions which can be the cause of discomfort and pain.

Sports Massage uses additional massage techniques to

- lengthen and break down tight / bulky muscle or scar tissue
- help the healing process after injury
- prevent injury
- increase the range of motion
- reduce swelling

Who can benefit from Sports Massage?

Sports massage can benefit those not only those who are training or recovering from injury, but also anyone who takes part in sport recreationally or socially. It can also be beneficial to anyone who leads a stressful life and has built up large amounts of tension in their muscles.


Time is charged at £50 an hour, £40 for 45 minutes.

A 10 minute consultation will take place at the beginning of the first treatment. Any information held on the consultation form will be safeguarded under the Data Protection Act and will not be passed on to any third party without the permission of the client.
